Yet another 5K…

so I went for another 5K on Monday morning, at such mornings as those, I wonder why I do this to myself.  This one was packed with people, young people complete with their coaches, which means they could run, very fast.  It was more of a family affair too.   So at 8 am, we took off, and I asked myself again, why do I do this to myself???   The first mile took forever.  The starting point was Chattanooga State and it was kinda a scenic route with the smell of the river.  With every 5K, I learn something new, from this one, I realized that I need to start running on real ground instead of a treadmill, you know in a treadmill, it is like you are being pulled by someone, makes you run faster and makes it a little easier.  I will keep my speed workouts on the treadmill and my long runs on tarmac (cement?)  After the race, this little teenage boy, who is definately less than half my age, decided to ask me, what my time was. okay, that is like asking me, how old I was.  I bet the numbers are close (my age and my race time).  So he told me he ran it like in 21 minutes!  then he added to make me feel better, but I have been running for 2 years.  I wanted to ask him if he started running when he was ten.  He went on to tell me how he has been trying to get his dad to run with him (now I am convinced that his dad is about my age)  made for a good conversation, I hope he makes it big time in running.  Now it is time to get ready for the Army Physical Fitness test, 2 miles will probably be a piece of cake this time.  will keep you posted.
